The story of Thomas Liquors starts in 1922 when Clarence Thomas begins work at the Rosedale Pharmacy, on the corner of Grand Avenue and Prior Ave in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  By the late 1920s Clarence was the sole owner-operator of the business and renamed it the Thomas Pharmacy.  It was also during this time that the Thomas Pharmacy gained a bit of local lore and legend when kidnapper Fred Goetz left his infamous ransom note for the Hamms family on the pharmacy's soda booth for Clarence to find.  As Prohibition ended, Clarence quickly expanded his liquor inventory to meet the needs of the notoriously thirsty Mac-Groveland neighborhood, and in 1951 as liquor sales soon outpaced the pharmacy business, Clarence closed the pharmacy and renames the store Thomas Liquors.  During the 1950s and 1960s Clarence's son Jim Thomas, along with his wife Judy, take hold of the business and raise their family as the business grew.  In the late 1970s Mike Thomas began working full-time for the shop and along with his wife Tammy, continues to push the business to be the wine focused destination it is today.  One of the many things that make Thomas Liquors unique is the true family spirit that fills our aisles as three generations of the Thomas family are actively involved in the business on a daily basis.

We are dedicated to making Saint Paul and the Mac-Groveland neighborhood a better place to live and we thank you for your patronage!
